Story Tellers

Kylie,
Berkelouw Books

When you walk through the aisles of a bookstore, you are transcended into a world of endless possibilities

When you walk through the aisles of a bookstore, you are transcended into a world of endless possibilities. Surrounded by paper portals, in a silent world of colour, adventure, history and wisdom. A feeling that is obsolete in the digital world.

When we spoke to Kylie @ Berkleouw Books, Eumundi, it became clear from the very start that her passion for books runs deep. Weaving through the warm timber columns, passed gifts of all kinds and people, oblivious to our presence while buried in words. Up the stairs and in the far corner room, we found Kylie immersed in her work. In her happy place.

Camera shy and humble with a modest smile, she showed us a glimpse into her world and explained to us why she loves her work and Eumundi community.

“Eumundi is a friendly town full of a diverse array of interesting people. Going into work everyday l am always greeted with smiles and waves. I feel connected and love being a part of this community

Kylie shared with us her favourite things to do in and around Eumundi.
“My favourite thing to do in Eumundi is definitely being in the bookshop – not just because I work there but I also love being around all the books old and new. Books are so full of possibility, providing inspiration and reflection, entertainment and information. It is also such a great place to find meaningful gifts and I love the extra effort we put into wrapping them.

I love the coffee from Humdrum and the Berkelouw Cafe who also make the greatest temptation of cakes. I love browsing the stalls during my lunch break on market days, and always find something fresh and healthy from the many food vans, Claude’s Salads are still my number one go to!”
