Doc Span Blues Band

Event Details

Put Saturday 17 June in your diary – when blues harmonica legend DOC SPAN joins forces with guitar virtuoso TIM GAZE at Eumundi’s Imperial Hotel.

Charismatic, American born Doc Span has been exciting audiences for decades with his thrilling harmonica and authentic smooth and grainy voice. He plays R & B harmonica in the Paul Butterfield / Charlie Musselwhite tradition, styling the sound with amplification and mic techniques. You have to hear it to believe it.

Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, Span was playing the blues clubs of Chicago in the 1960’s during the formative years of classic urban blues. He toured the US and Latin America for years before settling in Australia where he has established himself as one of the premier harmonica players on the scene.

Span will be launching his latest CD ‘Burning Memory’, featuring all new, original numbers with a brilliant line-up of international grooves and musicians.

Joining Span on the night will be master of guitar Tim Gaze; with Gus Fenwick on bass (after touring with Brian Cadd), and Max Sportelli on drums.

A few words about Tim from the legendary Jimmy Barnes (they’ve played together on and off over the years): “Tim Gaze is and always has been one of the best guitarists that Australia has ever produced. I remember seeing him in the early days with the boys from Cold Chisel… He is a great player and a great friend of mine. I cannot speak highly enough of him, he is one of nature’s true gentlemen. But not only that, he can make his guitar sing like an angel and scream like the devil. He is truly gifted”.
Get ready to party – an awesome night of music guaranteed.
