You’re invited to join Aboriginal Artist, Desert-Rain Magpie for a journey exploring Indigenous culture and basket weaving practises.
Presented online this interactive workshop will connect you with like minded people in a relaxed yarning circle environment. You’ll discover different traditional weaving techniques and interwoven culture whilst creating your own beautiful handmade basket, mat or other useful household items all woven from natural materials.
Upon registration you’ll be emailed easy to follow instructions and a unique link. When the workshop is due to start you simply click this link to access the webinar which is hosted on the Zoom platform. The workshop will be delivered every Thursday night between 6pm and 9pm (QLD time) for 3 weeks from the 15/10/20. You’ll also be express posted a basket weaving kit to use which includes:
-1 x Weaving needle
-1 x Natural raffia
-5 x Coloured raffia
Registration fees paid go directly towards supporting Deadly Collectives self employed Indigenous artists. Plus 10% is donated to a charity of the Facilitators choice. Desert-Rain’s pick for the month of October is the Ngarang-Wal Gold Coast Aboriginal Association Incorporated.

No previous experience is required and non indigenous participants are encouraged to join. Places are limited to 25 people so advanced registration is recommended.
