Eumundi Markets Origins (1979)

The Original Eumundi Markets began on 24 March 1979 at the Country Women’s Association (CWA) Hall.

They were founded by:

  • Christa Barton (ceramic artist)
  • Gail Perry-Somers (community organiser)

Inspired by community markets in nearby regions, they created a space where locals could sell handmade and homegrown goods.

Growth of Eumundi Markets in the 1980s and 1990s

Throughout the 1980s, the markets grew rapidly as visitors discovered their unique atmosphere.

By 1985:
