The History of the Full Moon Dance at Verrierdale Hall

The Full Moon Dance has a remarkable history stretching back more than three decades.

The first event was held at Verrierdale Hall on 14 November 1987, when local musician Barry Charles organised a show called The Lost Lamington Show. The event evolved into the Lamington Shows, followed by the Bunya Beat Ball, before eventually becoming known as the Full Moon Dance.

The early dances quickly developed a reputation for energetic music, colourful characters and a strong sense of fun. They became an important part of the local music scene and attracted people from across the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

After Barry Charles moved on to touring, Steve Tracey took over the events, continuing the tradition of bringing live music to Verrierdale Hall.
