Community consultation is now open for the design of the structure to replace the rickety bridge in Dick Caplick Park
The “rickety bridge” playground structure at Dick Caplick Park has been removed because it was not safe. The bridge had timber rot and did not meet current playground safety standards. It was deemed unfeasible to repair as the timber rot was too extensive. Council is seeking your input on the design of the playground structure to replace the “rickety bridge”.
New Play Structure Design – Dick Caplick Park
When designing the new playground structure, we are focusing on the following key points:
- Creating a fun and engaging play experience
- Offering a unique play feature not currently in the park
- Using strong, durable materials that are low maintenance
- Meeting all playground safety standards
- Avoiding impact on existing trees
- Complementary to the parks existing character
- Include features that promote belonging, being and becoming
- Consider sustainability in material choice
Community Engagement
Council invites you to provide your feedback between Monday, 10 June and 5pm Monday, 8 July 2024. Feedback will help Council to determine an appropriate replacement to the “rickety bridge” playground structure.
If you would like to remain updated on this project, please follow the project (Select +Follow at the top of the page).
Next Steps
Council will review all survey responses and feedback to develop the new playground structure design.
The final design will take into account the survey responses and other feedback that we receive while adhering to playground design guidelines and standards set by Council.
A playground structure to replace the “rickety bridge” is expected to be built in late 2024 or early 2025. This is scheduled to align with the Eumundi streetscape construction works.
